Winter Olympics 2018 opening ceremony: live updates as Kim Jong-un’s sister shakes hands with South Korea President
The opening ceremony for the 2018 Winter Olympics is under way in Pyeongchang, with an extraordinary show of lights and action signalling the start of the competition, the first ever in South Korea.
Skeleton athlete Lizzy Yarnold will be carrying the flag for Great Britain, an honour she described as “huge” and “a big responsibility”.
Kim Jong-un’s sister, Kim Yo-jong, is at the stadium, and has been pictured shaking hands with the South Korea president, Moon Jae-in, in what is an historic moment for the feuding nations.
