IPL 2018: Preity Zinta justifies her ‘unreal’ expression on Mumbai Indians’ exit
The excitement was at its peak going into the final weekend of the league stages of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a couple of spots in the top four of the points table were still up for grabs. Along with the victory, the teams were also dependent on the results of the other matches. Similarly, for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to go through, they needed both, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) to lose their respective matches as they were locking horns with the CSK in the last match of the league phase.

Amazingly, both the results went their way even as the game started in Pune and no wonder their owner and the Bollywood actress Preity Zinta was excited. During the match, she was caught on the cameras expressing her happiness to one of her colleagues after Delhi managed to knock the defending champions out of the tournament in a thrilling clash. Now Punjab had a realistic chance to qualify for the playoffs and their fortunes were in their hands.
One of the Twitter users pointed out the same and posted the video on the social media trolling Preity for the same. “Mam @realpreityzinta did you really said “I am just very happy that Mumbai is not going to the finals?
Preity clarifies
KXIP, unfortunately, lost the game when they needed to win it by more than 53 runs to go sneak through to the playoffs. The team which promised a lot at the start of the season tailed off significantly in the second half and were eventually knocked out. However, the video of Preity expressing her happiness over Mumbai‘s loss went viral at the same time and the Diva herself has now come out and clarified herself. She was obviously not impressed and cleared the air saying that they had to depend on the other results given their situation at that stage.
“Relax ! Only if Mumbai was “Knocked Out” Punjab would have had a chance of getting to the play offs but RR was happier we were Knocked out by CSK cuz they got to go to the playoffs ! When you leave it till the end one has to not just see your wins but other teams losses as well,” Zinta tweeted.
Punjab ended the season at the seventh position in the end with 12 points to their name and could win only a solitary game in last 8 matches.
