Eoin Morgan becomes England’s highest run-scorer
Eoin Morgan has added his name to the record book as he went past Ian Bell‘s tally of 5416 runs to become leading run-scorer for England. The host who are leading the ODI series against Australia by 2-0 are up for a mammoth score in the third one as one. Morgan who came to bat after the wicket of Jos Buttler smashed his half-century in just 21 balls. In his innings he struck 3 fours and 4 sixes. Morgan achieved this landmark in his 180th match.
Earlier in the match Jason Roy (82) and Jonny Bairstow (139) added 159 to the opening wicket partnership. Australia used eight balls in total but none of them seem to trouble the batsmen whatsoever. It was in the 35th over when Bairstow in order to smash a six ended up hitting a short ball by Ashton Agar to Jhye Richardson. Alex Hales took charge from there on bringing up his century and maintaining the century. England have also gone past the highest ODI total in the process.
