The Pakistan Cricket Board: Fawad Alam has been called up for a training camp
The camps will form the base for the selection of the players for the upcoming tour of England.
For the critics and the fans who follow the game of cricket in Pakistan, the name of Fawad Alam is not a new one. Alam maintains a batting average of over 55 in the First Class cricket. Over the last few seasons, he has been in a spectacular form. Despite his stellar run in domestic cricket, he has been constantly ignored by the national selectors.
The fans have often expressed their disbelief to see his name missing out from the squad announced for various international assignments. Many believe that the national selectors, headed by Inzamam-ul-Haq are only eyeing the younger lot of players. Hence, drafting in someone like Fawad Alam would be taking a couple of steps backwards.
Having said that, it is only fair to reward a player based on his performances and not the age. Much to the delight of the fans in Pakistan, Fawad Alam has been called up for a training camp. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that all the centrally contracted players, along with a few other cricketers, will be attending a fitness camp.
The camp is scheduled to take place on April 9 and April 10. Furthermore, the players will undergo a skills camp which is scheduled to take place from April 11 to April 23. The camps will form the base for the selection of the players for the upcoming tour of England.
