India claim women’s team table tennis title

India have upset Singapore to win the women’s team table tennis event at Oxenford Studios on Sunday.
It was 22-year-old Manika Batra, who won both her singles matches against Tianwei Feng and Yihan Zhou, that was the difference between the two teams.
“This was the best performance in my career so far. I had my entire team and coach behind me. Without my team or my coach, I couldn’t have done this,” Batra said.
England took bronze in a marathon match with Australia that lasted longer than three hours.
Player of the match Tin-Tin Ho won both of her singles matches, but the real turning point came when Kelly Sibley/Maria Tsaptsinos rallied from 8-4 down to win 11-9 in the third game against Jian Fang Lay/ Miao Miao as they clinched victory in four games.
“When we were 8-4 down, I honestly thought it was going to slip away from us. We gritted our teeth and didn’t go too hard and just kept going.” Tsaptsinos said.
