Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had a happy homecoming at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Friday. They beat Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Match 8 of the VIVO IPL 2018 to register their first win in the tournament. Umesh Yadav and AB de Villiers emerged as heroes for RCB, who finished at the bottom of the table in the last edition.

KXIP, riding on Bengaluru boy KL Rahul’s blitz, were off to a strong start before Umesh derailed the momentum with three wickets in an over. KXIP never recovered from there and skipper Ravichandran Ashwin’s gritty 33 helped them to 155.

The total was not big enough but KXIP managed to dig inroads in the powerful RCB batting. Brendon McCullum was out for a golden duck and the dangerous looking Virat Kohli was cleaned up by a peach by teen sensation Mujeeb Zadran. Quinton de Kock and de Villiers guided the team to a win in the ultimate over.

Here’s how the individuals fared. Let us glance at the marks out of 10.
